Posted on November 28th, 2022
CatholicCare joined with hundreds of local business representatives in Rockhampton on Saturday night to support the 2022 Best in Business Awards hosted by Capricorn Enterprise and the Capricorn Chamber of Commerce.
Proudly supporting their very own nominee, Finance Assistant Jack Hogan, who was nominated for Best Apprentice or Trainee, CatholicCare were also on hand to present the inaugural award for Best Accessible Business.
Jack, who started with CatholicCare as a Finance Trainee in 2021, came to the organisation looking for a career change after working in the hospitality and security sectors.

That career change is now paying dividends.
Of the 12 apprentices or trainees nominated in his category, Jack was a top five finalist, an achievement he said he was grateful for.
“I am very proud and grateful to have been nominated for this award and to have my efforts and achievements recognised,” Jack said.
“I really enjoyed the learning experience of my traineeship, and CatholicCare has always been very supportive of my studies and helping me to further my career where I can.”
“Since finishing my traineeship, I have even started studying a Bachelor of Accounting at university.”
Jack said that he credited his time at CatholicCare for helping him to uncover his desire to be an accountant.
CatholicCare Director, Robert Sims, said that the organisation took great pride in supporting its employees wherever possible, and that placing emphasis on promoting continued self-development and learning was important.
“Firstly, I’d like to extend a big congratulations to Jack on his placing as an award finalist tonight,” Robert said.
“We are extremely proud of Jack and his achievements, and we look forward to continuing to watch and support him with his future endeavours.
“I think Jack’s accomplishment here tonight is the perfect demonstration of the kind of incredibly dedicated and inspirational people that make up our CatholicCare team.”

On partnering with Capricorn Enterprise and the Capricorn Chamber of Commerce to present the inaugural Best Accessible Business award, Robert said that it was important to recognise the valuable work being done by local businesses.
“At CatholicCare, we truly recognise how critical it is to ensure that accessibility and inclusivity are well-embedded into our communities,” Robert said.
“We all have a role to play to make sure that everyone is able and encouraged to participate in society to their fullest potential, and there is still a lot of work to be done in this space.”
“We’re very glad that by partnering with both Capricorn Enterprise and the Capricorn Chamber of Commerce, we are able to extend our appreciation and give our thanks to the great efforts already being made here, within our business community.’
Robert said that he extended his congratulations to the category’s well-deserved nominees, and to AAA Tutoring & Skills Building in particular, who won the category overall on the night.
