Primary Objective
As a member of the Home and Yard Maintenance Team, Yard Maintenance Field Officers are responsible for:
- Providing information to clients regarding available program services and assessing client eligibility
- Performing a variety of yard maintenance tasks, such as lawn mowing, general gardening, and pruning
- Undertaking minor home maintenance duties, including rubbish removal, gutter cleaning, outdoor house washing, driveway cleaning, and small-scale repairs
- Referring clients to appropriate services and escalating matters to senior program staff where needed to address client needs and support the program’s long-term financial sustainability
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant horticulture qualifications and/or extensive experience in a similar role
- Current C or CA class Driver’s license (QLD)
Core Competencies
- Proficient in the use of professional mowing equipment, including Zero-Turn ride-on mowers
- Demonstrated experience with professional trimming and pruning tools
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
- Strong professional communication skills with both internal team members and external stakeholders
- Effective time management and ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and service requirements
- Sound understanding of basic computing concepts and the ability to use digital tools relevant to the role
Other Requirements
- Good physical fitness and capacity to perform manual handling and physically demanding tasks
- Basic oral and written communication skills for interacting effectively with staff, clients and members of the public
- Knowledge of established work practices, procedures, and techniques relevant to the role
- Developing understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the workplace
- Ability to identify, report, and respond to incidents and hazards promptly and appropriately
- Committed to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a client-focused approach
The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
This position requires the completion of an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
