History of School Savvy

School Savvy CQ was launched in October 2018 by the team at CatholicCare.

Starting out in Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Mount Morgan, the first-ever School Savvy CQ pop-up shops opened their doors in January 2019 to meet overwhelming demand. Over 700 children were assisted in getting back to school ready in 2019, and the number of children assisted in the years since has continued to grow into the thousands.

Since its inception the School Savvy CQ program has also continued to grow, expanding in 2020 to also include the Bundaberg region. As of January 2022, School Savvy CQ will have held an incredible seven pop-up shops at once, including Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gracemere, Mt. Morgan, Bundaberg, Childers, and Gin Gin.

With School Savvy programs being run across the state of Queensland by fellow Catholic Social Service organisations, it is no wonder that School Savvy is quickly becoming the go-to back to school program for families and children facing financial struggles.

No child should ever be denied an education, especially for reasons completely outside of their control like facing financial hardship.

School Savvy CQ aims to ensure that every child has access to the basic resources that they need to succeed at school.
