Adventure awaits in Rockhampton

ROCKHAMPTON’S Community Care Social Support Groups program caters for eligible members of our community of any age.

Through our social support groups we empower our clients who may have become socially isolated to re-engage and build new social contacts and networks.

By offering a diverse range of leisure experiences we enable participants to make choices and decisions to suit their individual needs and interests.

Activities on offer include:

Arts and Craft Group

Various art and craft activities done with volunteer assistance – morning tea is served.

Bingo  

Various dates and times at the 16 Bolsover Street Transit Lounge. Both variations involve the calling of numbers, images or playing cards and marking off on cards to win prizes. Morning tea is served.

Tropical Wanderers Picnics 

Various locations/venues (outdoors weather permitting). BBQ picnics are enjoyed in various park locations or a sausage sizzle.

Mystery Morning Tea/Lunch Tours

Participants are collected and transported to a mystery location for morning tea/ lunch and sightseeing

Men’s Social Group

Held at various locations. Morning tea is provided along with the opportunity to enjoy a chat and spin a yarn amongst male counterparts

Movie Days

Once a month, join us at the Birch Carroll and Coyle Rockhampton Cinemas for movie days. Transport and assistance is provided to access the seniors movie screening accompanied with a morning tea

Special event Luncheons & Outings

2 – 3 times per month on varying days and often at various locations/venues. Luncheons for special occasions like St Patrick’s Day, Halloween or Melbourne Cup Day or Bus trips for luncheons further afield to country areas and evening tour of Christmas lights. Some weekend community events around the Rockhampton region will be scheduled.

Veggie Stall Crawl

Various locations around the Rockhampton region. Join the team and visit veggie stalls to purchase cheap vegetables and meet farmers and hear their stories. Morning tea provided

Op Shop Hop

Are you interested in antique shopping and buying low-priced clothing/ housing equipment? Then the Op Shopping is for you, from Vinnies to Salvos to antique shops, join our team 1-2 times a month. Morning tea provided.

Sing 4 Health

Join our group’s clients and sing along at the Uniting Church in Yeppoon and play the piano. Simple and fun dance movements are also showed to clients while singing along. Morning tea provided with Capricorn Tavern lunch to follow.

Ladies Lunch

Held at various locations. Morning tea is provided along with the opportunity to enjoy a chat and spin a yarn among ladies counterparts

Country Music

Come with us to the Schotia place and enjoy country music entertainment and sing along. $5 lunch provided to clients.

Fishing and Fish & Chips

Monthly event on various days and times according to the calendar Small group of people enjoying the leisure activity of fishing with assistance in both fresh and salt water at various destinations. Equipment, any required assistance are provided. Fish and Chips lunch at the beach to follow.

Afternoon Strolls at the Riverbank

Weekly event with a small group of people. Afternoon team provided. Enjoy the scenic route of Rockhampton with some fresh air.

Friday Afternoon sausage Sizzle

Join us on Friday afternoons for a free sausage sizzle. Please check dates on the social group’s calendars for schedule days and times.
