Child Inclusive Mediation is offered through CatholicCare’s Family Relationship Centre team as part of the family dispute resolution process.
It gives children the opportunity to be heard in a safe, supported and impartial way by a trained practitioner. This is not counselling or therapy, and children are not asked to decide where they want to live. Instead, the process helps parents better understand their child’s experience, feelings and needs during family change.
Child Inclusive Mediation may be helpful for parents who are separating, working through parenting arrangements, or experiencing ongoing family conflict and want to better understand how their child is coping.
It can be especially valuable when parents want to make decisions that are not just about resolving conflict between adults, but about keeping the child’s voice and wellbeing at the centre of the conversation.
