CatholicCare’s Family Relationship Centre offers support to individuals, couples, and families going through separation or divorce.
Our team provides family mediation services that focus on the well-being of children and help all parties work through parenting and property matters without needing to go to court.We make sure children have a voice in the process, and we offer practical advice, education, and referrals to other services when needed.
Every family’s situation is different, so we tailor our support to your needs, providing a safe, confidential, and respectful space to help resolve conflict.
Services are available in-person, over the phone, or via video, with regional and remote support offered throughout Central Queensland.

Frequently Asked Questions
Family mediation is a safe and guided conversation to help people going through separation or divorce. It’s led by a trained, neutral professional who supports everyone involved to make decisions about parenting or property in a respectful and fair way.
You don’t have to see a lawyer to use family mediation, but we do recommend it. While our team can’t give legal advice, we can explain general principles and offer support around parenting and what’s best for your child.
Our mediation services are more affordable and often quicker than going through the legal system. We focus on working together, not against each other. You stay in control of the decisions, and we help create a space where everyone can be heard and supported.
Mediation is voluntary, but in most cases, Australian family law requires separated parents to try family mediation before applying to court for parenting orders. There are some exceptions, and our team can help explain what applies to your situation.
