School’s Out – School Savvy’s in!

SCHOOL’S out for summer, but it’s time to get SAVVY

CentacareCQ staff officially launched School Savvy CQ in Bundaberg earlier this month at Cane Cutters Kitchen.

The event was attended by local sponsors, donors and business owners, as well as Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt, Member for Bundaberg David Batt, Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett and Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor Jack Dempsey.

The School Savvy CQ initiative will provide pre-loved uniforms and basic stationery supplies to families who are struggling financially, at extremely low cost.

Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett said the 2020 school year was fast approaching so now was the time to give.

“This time of year can be a stretch for many in our community, but if we all help out in a small way, it will make a big difference for some young students.

I was privileged to be able to attend the School Savvy official launch in Bundaberg and saw first-hand the hard work that has gone into making this program a reality in our region.

For me Christmas is about helping others and giving back, so let’s all do our bit to help young students get the best start to the year in 2020 by donating to the School Savvy Program.”
